Are you tired of standing in long queues just to get your SASSA money? Want it straight into your Capitec account where it’s easier to manage? You’re not alone. Many South Africans are switching to Capitec for smoother access and better control. Here’s how you can do it too, step by step, no stress.

Why Move Your SASSA Grant to Capitec?

Using the SASSA gold card works, but it’s not always convenient. ATMs run out of cash, post offices get packed, and there’s no way to send money quickly.

That’s where Capitec Bank comes in.

With a Capitec account, you can:

  • Get your grant paid straight into your account
  • Use the Capitec app or USSD to check your balance
  • Transfer money, buy airtime, and pay bills anytime
  • Avoid long queues and withdrawal fees

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Move Your SASSA Money to Capitec

1. Open a Capitec Account (if you don’t have one yet)

To get your grant into Capitec, you need an account first. Don’t worry — opening one is quick and free.

Here’s what to do:

  • Download the Capitec Bank app from the Play Store or App Store, or visit www.capitecbank.co.za
  • Click on “Open Account”
  • Enter your ID number, full name, and phone number
  • Follow the prompts — the app guides you
  • When asked, select that it’s for SASSA payments

Once you’re done, the account will be active. Keep the details safe — you’ll need them in the next step.

2. Get and Fill Out the Annexure C Form

Now you need to tell SASSA where to send your money.

To do that, they need a special form called the Annexure C. It gives SASSA permission to deposit your grant into your Capitec account.

How to get it:

  • Go to your nearest SASSA office
  • Ask for the Annexure C banking form
  • Fill in your:
    • Full name and ID number
    • Type of grant (child, disability, old age, etc.)
    • Capitec account number

Once done, take that form to any Capitec branch.

3. Get the Form Stamped at Capitec

Before SASSA accepts the form, Capitec needs to check and stamp it.

Walk into any Capitec branch, give them the Annexure C form, and ask them to:

  • Verify your account
  • Stamp the form to confirm it’s active and belongs to you

This stamp shows SASSA that the account is ready to receive your grant.

4. Submit the Form and Bank Statement to SASSA

You’re almost done.

Take the stamped Annexure C form back to the SASSA office, and submit it with a recent bank statement (not older than 3 months). Make sure your statement shows your name, account number, and bank details clearly.

SASSA uses this to update your banking information on their system.

5. Wait for Confirmation from SASSA

After submission, SASSA will verify your new details.

How long does it take?

It usually takes 7–10 working days, but in some cases, it can take up to 30 days. During this time, your grant will still be paid into your SASSA gold card (Now SASSA Black Cards) ,so keep using it until you get an SMS confirming the switch.

Can You Move Money from SASSA Card to Capitec Directly?

No, you can’t just transfer funds from your SASSA card to your Capitec account using an app or ATM.

SASSA doesn’t allow direct transfers between cards. You must go through the Annexure C process to switch your payment method officially.

Already Getting SASSA via Capitec? Here’s What You Can Do

If your SASSA grant already goes into Capitec:

  • Use the Capitec App to send money or make payments
  • Dial *120*3279# to check your balance if you don’t have airtime
  • Avoid ATM withdrawal fees by swiping your card in-store

Capitec offers cheaper and safer options than many paypoints.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

  • The Capitec account must be in your name — SASSA doesn’t accept accounts in someone else’s name
  • Never pay anyone to “speed up” the process — it’s 100% free
  • Don’t skip any documents. Bring:
    • Annexure C form (stamped)
    • Recent bank statement
    • Copy of your ID

How to Know the Transfer Worked?

SASSA will send you an SMS once they’ve updated your details.

From the next payday, your SASSA grant will land in your Capitec account instead of the gold card. You can then:

  • Withdraw at any ATM
  • Shop and swipe
  • Use the Capitec app to manage your money

You can also call SASSA to confirm, or dial *134*7737# to check your grant status.
